What is 'OTA' or firmware update?

Last updated 8 July 2026

OTA stands for Over-The-Air and refers to the process of wirelessly delivering firmware updates to your devices. This allows your devices to stay up-to-date with the latest features and performance improvements without the need for physical connections.

How to Receive an OTA Update

  1. Ensure Device Connectivity: Your device must be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or a mobile network.

  2. Enable Automatic Updates (if available): Check your device settings to make sure that automatic updates are turned on.

  3. Check for Updates: Some devices allow you to manually check for updates through the settings menu (e.g., Settings > Software Update).
